Uproar in Rajya Sabha too

The House was adjourned several times and could not take up any business.

AS the Lok Sabha witnessed unprecedented clashes, the Rajya Sabha too was not far behind as a TDP member opposing the creation of Telangana uprooted microphones from the chairman’s podium. The House was adjourned several times and could not take up any business.

TDP member C M Ramesh rushed to the Well of the Rajya Sabha, carrying the “Save Andhra Pradesh” banner, joining other Seemandhra MPs. Ramesh then pulled out the microphones on the chairman’s podium.

“Is this democracy? You know what is happening in the other House,” he was heard shouting. “You continue. If this is democracy, you continue,” retorted Deputy Chairman P J Kurien.

AIADMK members led by V Maitreyan also went to the Well to raise the issue of the Tamil fishermen.
