Former Union Minister Nagmani, who along with his wife and sitting JD(U) MLA,Suchitra Singh,is all set to formally join the Congress on Monday, today claimed that several RJD leaders would follow the suit after September 15.
“The RJD is set to face a storm as several of its senior leaders have shown their inclination to join the Congress after September 15,” Nagmani, who returned from New Delhi where he had a meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi told reporters.
Nagmani, who was also Agriculture Minister in the Nitish Kumar Cabinet before he switched over to RJD during 2009 LS polls, said both the ruling NDA and RJD-LJP combine were “a spent force” and neither of the alliance would return to
power.
“Congress is set to form the next government in Bihar as people are look at the grand old party with great hope and expectations,” he claimed.
Nagmani alleged that the NDA government led by Nitish Kumar was “a total failure” on all fronts.
He said the AICC president had accepted his request to join the Congress.
“I am a tested and experienced leader and which ever party or alliance I backed, has been able to form the government in past,” Nagmani claimed, adding now now the Congress stands “a fair chance” of returning to power in Bihar after a period of 20 years.
Nagmani had unsuccessfully contested the LS polls from Chatra in Jharkhand.
