Porngate: Cong cries cover-up,waves a CD

State Congress president Arjun Modhwadia told reporters that submitting the iPad to FSL and procuring a clean chit from it amounted to a cover-up to protect the two MLAs.

The Congress leader said that when the matter had already been referred to the privileges committee of the House,it should have been allowed to complete its job. The iPad should have been given to the privileges committee and it should have been left to it to inquire into the issue.

Instead,Modhwadia alleged,the Speaker passed it over to the FSL with a view to hushing up the whole issue and protect the two MLAs,under pressure from Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

“This is totally illegal,” he said. “Chief Minister Narendra Modi has virtually captured the office of the Speaker,” the Congress leader alleged.

Questioning the credibility of the FSL,the Congress leader said the Special Investigation Team (SIT) was not given the required documents by the FSL and the SIT had to finally raid the offices of FSL and seize computers and hard discs to collect evidence in fake encounter cases. “Such is the credibility of Gujarat FSL. Hence,its findings with regard to obscene CDs involving BJP MLAs can’t be trusted,” Modhwadia said.

Modhwadia said when CDs of senior BJP leader Sanjay Joshi involved in an alleged sex scandal was distributed at BJP’s Mumbai convention,Joshi was removed immediately from his post. “But the party at state and national level is totally silent about Shankar Chaudhary and Jetha Bharwad caught on camera watching obscene material in the state Assembly,” the state Congress chief said.
