People in Telengana felt neglected: Chidambaram

P Chidambaram said that Telangana issue exposed how people felt neglected by the state government,despite having same language.

Union Home Minster P Chidambaram said in New Delhi on Thursday that Telangana issue exposed how people felt neglected by the state government,despite having same language.

Speaking at a seminar organised on the occasion of International Human Rights Day Chidambaram said: “Late last night,the government announced that it will initiate the process to form a state of Telangana.”

“That debate again exposes how people and region feel that they have been neglected despite speaking the same language by the governments that have ruled the state for many years,” he added.

In a desperate effort to stem the deteriorating law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh after increased agitation from the supporters of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti the Centre promised that a motion for the creation of a new province would be brought up before the State Assembly soon.

Noting the ongoing debate on Liberhan Commission Chidambaram said,the debate has exposed violation of rights of minorities.

“That report exposes how minority rights were violated by majoritarian view of the problem,” he said.
