Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address his first election rally in Kashmir on December 6. The visit is likely to be preceded by BJP stalwarts Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitley who will visit valley on November 28 and December 3. After addressing the people in Kishtwar on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Kashmir valley on December 6 to address voters in Srinagar. This will be the PM’s first rally in Kashmir. "PM Modi will visit Kashmir on December 6 to campaign for the assembly elections," State BJP media Incharge Altaf Thakur told The Indian Express. "He will address a rally in Srinagar." Thakur said that the party has sought permission from the state government to hold the rally at Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium in Srinagar – a highly fortified venue used in the past by several prime ministers to address people in Kashmir. "We are waiting for the response. The venue is likely to be there," said Thakur. The BJP media in charge said the state BJP unit has made all the arrangements to bring people from different parts of Kashmir valley for the rally. “We have finalized the plans to bring people from 10 districts of Kashmir to attend the Prime Minister’s rally,” he said. “We expect 40-50 thousands will participate in the rally”. Sources in the party said that after the first phase of the elections, senior leaders of the party including Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Finance minister Arun Jaitely and National general secretary BJP Ram Lal would visit the valley to campaign for the assembly elections. "Senior leaders and other officials from the party will visit the Kashmir Valley immediately after first phase of polling for the campaigning," a senior leader of BJP said. "All the leaders will address rallies in various parts."
