Maoists had been cornered in the erstwhile Left Front rule in West Bengal but the ultras had regained strength due to inaction by the present Mamata Banerjee-led government,former Chief Minister Budhhadeb Bhattacharjee said today.
“We had cornered the Maoists,but the present government has loosened that grip and now they are regaining strength,” Bhattacharjee said at a public meeting in Belgharia in North 24 Parganas district.
“This mistake in Jungle Mahal was added to the error in Darjeeling hills,” he said,adding the government was “playing with fire”.
The CPI(M) Politburo member said West Bengal would not be divided and and alleged that “terror” by the ruling Trinamool Congress on CPI(M) cadres and supporters was continuing.
