Lok Sabha elections results 2014: West Bengal

Despite Mamata's best ever performance she would not get to play a role in government formation at the Centre.

Incumbent Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress has pushed every opponents further to the margins of state politics, bagging 34 of the 42 Lok Sabha seats. Congress managed to get 4 parliamentary seats this time as compare to 6 seats in 2009. Most unexpected swing of the voters is being recorded in favour of TMC and that perhaps brought the Left front to its lowest ever tally to 2 seats. BJP has also increased its performance by and by and reached to 2 seats, from 1 in 2009. TMC has swept the state comprehensively, and with 34 parliamentary seats it has emerged as the fourth largest political party in India.
