Karti defiance: TN Cong wants high command to take a call

The Congress central leadership said the party will take a decision after going through the notice and Karti’s reply.

The Tamil Nadu unit of Congress has sent a copy of the showcause notice that was issued to Karti Chidambaram for allegedly criticising the party, along with his reply to the central leadership.

Karti Chidambaram, son of former Union minister P Chidambaram, had questioned the state unit’s authority in issuing showcause notice to him, stating that he could only be questioned by the central leadership.

State Congress chief E V K S Elangovan, who has sent the both the notice and Karti’s reply to Congress general secretary in-charge of Tamil Nadu Mukul Wasnik, questioned Karti’s argument that AICC is the only competent authority to send him a show-cause notice as he is an AICC member.

Meanwhile, the Congress central leadership said the party will take a decision after going through the notice and Karti’s reply.  “No individual is above the party,” said Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala.
