Kalyan Singh slams BJP for ‘pitting Hindus against Muslims’

Kalyan Singh,in his maiden appearance at a SP forum charged the BJP with "pitting Hindus against Muslims" and vowed to damage the saffron party.

Once accused by Samajwadi Party as the mastermind behind Babri Masjid demolition,Kalyan Singh,in his maiden appearance at a SP forum,on Thursday charged the BJP with “pitting Hindus against Muslims” and vowed to damage the saffron party.

“BJP always pitted Hindus against Muslims. You would ask me why was I in BJP. Within the party,I used to tell the leaders against doing so,” Singh told the Special National Conference of the SP where he was invited as a special invitee.

While he said nothing about his plans to formally join SP,he said “coming to SP was like coming back to family”.

Kalyan said it was “anti-national” to link Muslims to terrorism.

“BJP does this,not Kalyan Singh,” he said adding that terror has no religion.

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said he would “spend his life to unite the two communities”.

He said since “Muslims and Kalyan Singh had BJP as a common enemy,we should become friends (dushman ka dushman dost) … I have taken a vow to damage BJP.”

Kalyan also rejected suggestions that his proximity to SP before the Lok Sabha elections had made Muslims against the Mulayam Singh Yadav-led party. “I do not agree with such suggestions,” he said.
