Meeting State Governor ahead of PDP's scheduled meeting with him on Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday described the suggestions on forging of a grand alliance between PDP, NC and Congress as betrayal of people's "popular" mandate in the state especially Jammu region. "The BJP with 23 per cent vote share has got the maximum popular mandate in assembly elections as compared to other parties and any government formed in the state ignoring such a massive mandate cannot be stable one," said BJP state president and MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, who earlier accompanied party national general secretary Ram Madhav at a meeting with State Governor N N Vohra on Tuesday morning. The meeting lasted for nearly 15 minutes, sources said, adding that Madhav was accompanied by BJP state president Jugal Kishore Sharma, who is also the sitting MP from Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha constituency. While Sharma refused to say anything on the matter except that he will meet the Governor along with party's proposal on government formation as per schedule on Thursday afternoon, sources said that both the BJP leaders held discussion over government formation at their today's meeting with him. Before meeting the Governor, Madhav had convened a meeting of core group of the party leaders including MLAs at a hotel on the outskirts of Jammu on Monday late evening. The decision to meeting the Governor on Tuesday, sources said, followed PDP's formal request to the Governor to postpone its meeting with him which had earlier been fixed for January 1. The PDP's request had come after severe setback to its talks with BJP leaders over the issue of one to one meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and its patron Mufti Sayeed for discussion over government formation. Jugal admitted that the BJP's proposal for government formation was ready, but he refused to divulge details saying that everything will become public after their meeting with the Governor on January 1. Ruling out governor rule in view of continued stalemate over government formation in the state, Sharma said that their "all options were open as talks on prospective alliances were in progress". It was talking time as BJP wanted to take a decision on government formation only after keeping in mind the welfare of the people of the state. "We have conveyed the party high command that there shall be a BJP government in view of the massive mandate received by it during assembly Polls. However, a final decision in the matter will be taken by the party high command," he added.
