EVM can’t be tampered with; no question of replacing them: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner Navin Chawla on Saturday ruled out replacement of EVMs,asserting that these machines cannot be tampered with or manipulated.

Terming the EVM as a ‘super calculator’,Chawla,who is on a holiday here,told reporters “There is no question of replacing the EVMs. The Commission has already proved that it cannot be tampered with.”

Asked about complaints by several political parties in Tamil Nadu after the last Lok Sabha elections,he said “An EVM would function on the basis of what we feed or programme.

There is no possibility of it being tampered with or manipulated. This has already been proved by the Commission to some political parties,” he said.
