BJP hopeful for a better show in Haryana,UP & Delhi

BJP termed as 'crucial' the seats that went to polls in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha polls and hoped the party would put up a decent performance in Rajasthan.

BJP termed as “crucial” the seats that went to polls in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha polls and hoped the party would put up a decent performance in Rajasthan and improve its tally in Delhi and Haryana.

“We are getting an enthusiastic response and we will perform well in the 18 seats of western Uttar Pradesh where polling was held today. In Delhi and Haryana,we had less seats the last time but we should improve,” BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley told reporters in New Delhi.

About its chances in Rajasthan, the senior leader said BJP was hopeful of retaining most of the seats it had won in the last general elections, saying the reasons for the party’s dismal performance in the recently held assembly elections there had been taken care of.

“We had won less seats in the state elections in Rajasthan due to internal issues,” Jaitley said.

Party sources said Rajasthan is a big worry as BJP had 21 MPs there. Since it is in a direct contest with Congress,BJP’s loss would be a gain for the former.

When asked about the relatively low voter turn-out on Thursday,Jaitley said it was due to the heat wave than lack of enthusiasm.

Jaitley claimed Congress and UPA would lose seats in this round while BJP will emerge as the largest party on May 16 and the NDA would form the next government.
