Dissident BJP leader from Uttarakhand Bhagat Singh Koshiyari withdrew his resignation from Rajya Sabha saying it was sending a “wrong message” in the organisation,a decision that was welcomed by his rival and Chief Minister B C Khanduri.
Koshiyari (67) had two days ago sent his resignation letter to Chairman Hamid Ansari, apparently as part of his campaign to mount pressure for removal of Khanduri.
He met Ansari on Friday to withdraw his resignation letter after meeting party President Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Thursday.
“After the (Lok Sabha) election results of Uttarakhand I had decided to resign from Rajya Sabha as I wanted to spend more time in the state to resurrect the party. But all senior leaders of the party told me that I can work for the interest of the party and its workers while being a Rajya Sabha member,” the veteran leader told reporters.
“Following my resignation, several office-bearers also put in their papers. To ensure that a wrong message does not get conveyed,I withdrew my resignation,” Koshiyari added.
Terming the directive from the leadership to withdraw his resignation as a “good advise”,Koshiyari said there should be “no chaos” in the party ranks on the issue.
