The CBI, probing the Samastipur bomb blast of January 2, 1975, in which Union minister L.N. Mishra and two others were killed, has arrested an advocate of Azamgarh, who had sneaked to another country to propagate anti-India feelings. The advocate, an alleged supporter of the outlawed Anand Marg, reportedly stole a revolver and handed it over to a co-margi, who unsuccessfully used it against the approver in the case of the murders of six margi defectors.

Sheikh Rejoins NC
J&K Chief Minister Sheikh Abdullah announced his decision to join the National Conference, which had been revived four months ago after his accord with the Centre. The announcement was made at a public meeting at Lal Chowk amidst thunderous cheers, the report said. Abdullah said he had so far desisted from formally becoming a regular member of the National Conference in the hope that better counsel would prevail and the Congress would merge with the conference to work jointly for the common ideals of secularism, socialism and democracy. Since his plea was turned down, he thought it fit to join the NC, he said.

Morocco March
Some 3,62,000 volunteers signed up for King Hassan’s proposed peaceful march of conquest to restore Morocco’s sovereignty over the Spanish Sahara. The agency said recruiting offices would continue to register volunteers, although the number of marchers remained fixed at 3,50,000.

Kissinger In China
US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger arrived in Peking for a four-day visit to prepare for the arrival of US President Gerald Ford.
