TIPRA Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma Tuesday said he has received a report from a high-level committee on the party’s performance in this year’s Tripura Assembly polls. He added that the TIPRA Motha, which has become the principal Opposition party in the north-eastern state, will soon be restructured.

In a social media post, Pradyot Kishore said: “I have been presented an extensive report by the high level committee which was formed after the election on where our strengths and weakness are! Next month there will be a plenary session and we will be restructuring the party from the primary level right up to the central committee. Change is good and so is commitment to our people.”

Meanwhile, Pradyot Kishore also warned against imposing other cultures on Tripura tribals.

“Language and script is inherent to our cause! Let’s not forget the imposition of Urdu/Arabic language led to the partition of Pakistan and eventually created Bangladesh #BhashaAndolôn. Don’t impose what you think is right on our indigenous people or there will be consequences! #CBSEExamination,” he wrote.

Earlier on Sunday night, he met Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and discussed various issues, including those relating to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) – which is run by the TIPRA Motha.

The Motha chief also said the tribal council had passed Bills regarding customary law, ADC area expansion, and land revenue, among others, but they were pending with the Governor for nearly a year and eight months.

He further said the ADC administration was reeling under a fund crisis and though the tribal council started several schemes in different sectors, the state government, which allocates funds to the council, had not released money yet.
