A delegation led by Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh Saturday left for New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discuss issues concerning the Naga pact. The delegation is also likely to meet Home Minister Amit Shah over the issue.
The delegation includes Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Y. Khemchand Singh, Education Minister Th. Radheshyam and Public Works, Rural Development Minister Th. Bishwajit Singh.
As protests continued unabated in several parts of the state, a group of women protestors unsuccessfully tried to storm into the residence of minister Bishwajit Singh, chanting slogans against “anti-Manipur policy.” Students also came together to form human chains in several areas.
The COCOMI had earlier called to intensify the agitation following the failure of state and central government to spell out the terms and conditions of the recently concluded Indo-Naga talks. The group has also been demanding a special session of the state Assembly.
The committee resolved to take up a series of agitation including boycotting the upcoming Manipur Sangai, non-cooperation movement and conduct road blockades.
