The Border Security Force (BSF) has apprehended 29 Bangladeshi nationals and seven Indian citizens including human traffickers in Tripura in the last four days, a senior BSF officer said in Agartala on Monday.

The arrests were made in different areas like Lankamura, Nischintapur, Harinakhola, and Agartala railway station under West Tripura district, Churaibari railway station and Dharmanagar under North Tripura district, Sabroom in South Tripura district, and L K Para in Gomati district.

The officer added that the force has also enhanced vigil along the India-Bangladesh international border in the northeastern state.

Moreover, the BSF conducted nine village coordination meetings in border areas to address the concerns of the local population.

Meanwhile, drugs and contraband items were also seized in different locations across the state.

In the first week of March, BSF troops thwarted several smuggling attempts and seized a huge quantity of narcotics, and other contraband items worth Rs 2.88 crore. Ganja amounting to 280.67 kg was also seized.
