Members of Austria’s small, liberal Neos party on Sunday voted in favour of a coalition deal with the conservative People’s Party (OVP) and Social Democrats (SPO), paving the way for their planned three-party government to take office.
The provisional result of the vote displayed at a hybrid meeting of roughly 2,000 party members showed 94.13% in favour, clearing the two-thirds hurdle required for the party to join the planned coalition government, in which it is due to head the foreign and education ministries.
