Vendors who set up stalls at the DigiDhan Mela in Gurgaon to promote cashless transactions had mixed experiences as far as sales were concerned. The mela was primarily cashless, with most vendors accepting payments only through card or Paytm. Because they rejected cash, some vendors claimed to have sold “nothing at all”. Others, however, said they were doing “decent business”. Rajat, who owns a linen shop in Gurgaon and set up a stall, said, “We thought a stall here would help because people would know how to make cashless transactions. But that wasn’t the case.” A few stalls down, Nitin, employed at Kitchen Collection in Sadar Bazaar, said most people were willing to pay by card.
