Outgoing Army Chief General Dalbir Singh today met officers at the Eastern Command as part of his farewell visit ahead of retirement at the end of this month. The Chief of the Army Staff addressed the officers of the Eastern Command at Fort William where he spoke about the multi-pronged challenges faced by the army starting from low-intensity conflict, disaster management, infrastructure development, fast track mordernisation to preparedness for conventional warfare, officials said. General Dalbir Singh assured the nation about the full preparedness of the army for any eventuality. He is retiring on December 31 from service and will be succeeded by vice chief Lt Gen Bipin Rawat.
