MUMBAI, August 13: The introduction of an additional ladies special in the evening between Churchgate and Borivli from August 17 is the prominent feature of the Western Railway’s new suburban railway time-table. The inaugural train will leave Churchgate at 5.39 pm.
On the harbour line, there will be five additional services on the CST-Andheri section and one service on the Andheri-Belapur route. After getting a budgetary allowance of Rs 35 crore for quadrapling of the Borivli-Virar route, the WR has started work on the project, which is to be completed in five years. “The main obstacle is the Vasai creek,” said the WR’s general manager, V D Gupta.
Two new foot-over bridges will be constructed at Andheri and Mira Road. The road between the Bandra local station and Bandra Terminus is expected to be functional within a year.
