VADODARA, May 19: Production in the Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited’s (IPCL) Proly Propylene (PP) plant resumed on Tuesday following talks between the company management and the striking employees.

The management was forced to shut down the plant on Monday night following a flash strike by nearly 80 people demanding toilets and cabins at the plant site.

Highly placed sources said the employees were also protesting against the management’s reported move of withdrawing services of khalasis, who get samples of the product from the plant site.

Official sources only said “the problem was resolved” and refused to elaborate whether the management had accepted the demands of the striking employees.

The meeting between the officers and employees continued till late on Monday night.

The Proly Butadine Rubber (PBR) plant and the PP plant together manufacture 210 metric tonnes of products daily, according to sources. The PBR is not functioning as maintenance work is going on, sources added.
