
NEW DELHI, August 5: The Indian women’s hockey team is preparing itself for the fourth Asia Cup to be held in New Delhi from December 1 to 10 and Olympic qualifiying tournament in Milton Keynes (England) from March 23 to April 2.
Trainer Hugh R Huber has been invited to train both junior and senior players for two weeks (August 6 to 19). He will be concentrating more on the improvement of the physical fitness of the players. The junior and senior coaching camps are being organised at NIS, Patiala.
Following senior players are taking part in the coaching camp: Tingongleima Chanu, Halen Mary, Suman Deswal (all goalkeepers); Marystella Tirkey, Amandeep Kaur, Sandeep Kaur, Kanti Baa, Sarita Khetri, Silbiniya Toppo (all defeders); Sunita Dalal, Suraj Lata Devi, Sita Gussain, Sumrai Tete, Shaina Kispotta, Anu Chaudhary (all mid-fielders); Pritam Rani Siwach, Kamla Dalal, Jyoti Sunita Kullu, Manjinder Kaur, Ferdina Ekka, Paulina Surin, Pakpi Devi, Jasinta Toppo, Manorama Goswami (all attackers).
GS Bhangu will be chief coach while Rajinder Singh and Jaswinder Singh will be coaches.
Following are the junior players: Rebika Devi, Suchita, Ritu Rani (all golkeepers); Pushpa Pradhan, Neelima Kujur, Binita Toppo, Suman Bala (all full backs); Gurpreet kaur, Agnecia Lugun, Manju, Kiran Bala, Mridula, Maaira Surin (all half backs); Meenakshi, Surinder Kaur, Simarnjit Kaur, Nishi Chauhan, Asrita Toppo, Adline Kerketta, Sushila Sharma, Mamta Kharab, A Ekka, Annarita Kerketta, Mohan Devinder Kaur (all forwards).
GS Bhangu (chief coach senior), Rajinder Singh, Jaswinder Singh (both senior coach), PP Antony (chief coach, junior), Saju Joseph, Madhukaran (both junior coach), NS Saini (chief coach, sub-junior) and SS Walia (co-ordinator) are also participating in this coaching-cum-fitness camp.
