Woman ends life with son

PUNE, August 16: Meena L Kuchekar, the 25-year-old wife of a landless labourer, committed suicide by jumping into a well at Andalgaon village near Shirur, along with her three-month old son Pappu.

Police said Meena took the drastic decision because Pappu was suffering from a kidney ailment ever since he was born. The Kuchekars had provided costly treatment to Pappu.

However, the child was not cured and his parents went bankrupt, they added. Meena and Pappu had gone missing since Wednesday night. Their bodies were found on Thursday morning.
