Saas Bina Sasural
Mondays to Thursdays,10.00 pm,Sony TV
Tej and Tanya are in love. They have been in a relationship for two years. While Tanyas parents are waiting for Tej to pop the question to Tanya and talk about their marriage to his family,he keeps putting it off till one day her parents give him an ultimatum. Tejs problem is his family consists of seven men including him and there is no woman in the family. To make matters worse, there is a grandfather and Tejs almost autocratic father who doesnt want any of his sons who range from 12 to 40 to get married, the reason behind which we are still not aware of. But Tej is bent on marrying Tanya and so the men decide to cast their votes as is the norm when a major decision has to be taken. Fortunately, they decide in his favour and now the ladkewalas are waiting for the ladkiwalas to visit them with the shagun.
Besides an interesting premise which we hope the makers stick to and do not bring in unnecessary characters of a wicked ladke ki bua or chachi 8211; the show is devoid of any melodrama no jarring camera movements,no loud mannerisms, whatsoever. The characters are likeable and the situations pretty much identifiable. The lead actors are easy on the eye, especially the girl Aishwarya who is bright and spirited. The boy,Ravi Dubey, needs to open up a bit more.
The rest of the cast is endearing too. Its going to be tough alright for the writers to come up with interesting situations, the ones that will challenge Tanyas marital life. Now if only the story moves along smoothly staying true to its take off point, without any excess baggage read women crowding the drawing room.
Verdict:
Definitely a refreshing watch.
