Lil Wayne released from prison

NEW YORK: Rap superstar Lil Wayne was released from prison after serving eight months of a year-long sentence for attempted gun possession. A spokesperson for the Rikers Island prison facility which had housed the rapper,confirmed that he had been discharged,reported New York Post online. In March,Lil Wayne,whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter,turned himself into New York authorities after he struck a plea deal in his case stemming from a 2007 gun arrest in Manhattan.
