The search operation in NRHM scam case continued on Saturday as CBI searched 27 places including residences,offices and bank lockers of 23 former Chief Medical Officers CMOs in 12 districts of Uttar Pradesh and in Patna in Bihar.
The CBI on Friday searched 35 places in five districts of UP including residences and offices of four CMOs and suppliers of medicines and surgical equipment.
The CMOs are accused of alleged financial irregularities in procurement of medicines and surgical goods to the hospitals in 22 districts of UP between 2005 and 2011,confirmed a senior CBI official who is part of the investigation.
CBI Joint Director Javeed Ahmad said the CBI teams conducted simultaneous searches at the residences of former CMOs in 12 districts on Saturday. The residences of three ex-CMOs in Lucknow searched included those of Dr S K Tiloia,Dr R S Verma and Dr Harish Chandra.
In Varanasi,the CBI searched houses of ex-CMOs Dr KM Tiwari retired,Dr Sharda Shukla,Dr R C Yadav,Dr O P Srivastava,Dr Sudhakar Dubey and Dr R L Singh. The officials recovered Rs 11.72 lakh from the house of Dr Tiwari and they were searching the bank lockers of Tiwari.
In Gonda,houses of Dr H N Tiwari and Dr H M Khan were searched while residences of Dr R N Mishra and Dr S K Maharaj were searched in Gorakhpur.
The CBI team at Patna searched the residence of retired CMO of Varanasi 8211; Dr Vibhuti Prasad 8211; at Bailey Road in Patna.
Other ex-CMOs who faced the CBI search at their houses included Dr G P Verma at Basti,Dr Prem Prakash at Meerut,Dr Chaman Prakash at Shravasti and Dr G P Awasthi at Kanpur.
