Two policemen,including an Assistant Sub-Inspector,and an ULFA militant were killed in an encounter at Tinalibam in Sivasagar district in Upper Assam on Thursday. The policeman were killed when a group of ULFA militants who were engaged in an encounter at Burragohain village,close to the Assam-Nagaland border,opened fire at them. The incident occurred at around 2.30 pm. The policemen have been identified as ASI Bhim Prasad Upadhyaya,officer in-charge of the Tinalibam police outpost,and constable Dibajit Borgohain. A five-year-old boy was also injured in the crossfire. The ULFA militant killed in the encounter has been identified as Swargiary. One 9-mm pistol and five rounds of live ammunition were recovered from him.
