Train runs 20 km without driver,probe ordered

A train plied over 20 kilometres from Qazigund station towards Anantnag in south Kashmir without a driver or passengers on board.

A train plied over 20 kilometres from Qazigund station towards Anantnag in south Kashmir without a driver or passengers on board. The driver-less train started from Qazigund station at 2 in the night on Sunday. However,the train came to a halt due to a steep gradient en route to Anantnag station.

The Northern Railway has initiated an inquiry into the incident to be conducted by the Chief Area Officer. We are looking into the matter, said the Public Relations Officer,Northern Railway.

The state administration has also asked the Railway authorities to come with an inquiry report. We have asked the Railway officials to set up an inquiry committee into the incident, said Amir Ali,OSD to Divisional Commissioner,Kashmir.
