After Home Minister P Chidambaram’s tryst with the shoe a few days back,it was the turn of Kurukshetra MP Navin Jindal who was at the receiving end of a similar attack during a workers’ meeting in his constituency on Friday.

Jindal, who has been renominated as the Congress candidate from Kurukshetra, was addressing a meeting of party workers when a retired school principal,Rajpal, suddenly got up and hurled a shoe at him. The shoe missed the MP but caused quite a commotion as security personnel pounced on the man,who was reported to be in an ineberiated condition. Rajpal was arrested and taken for a medical test.

According to sources,Rajpal, reported to be a supporter of Om Prakash Chautala’s INLD,has a long-pending grouse against the Congress Government which was reportedly instrumental in making his son unemployed. Rajpal’s son was said to have been given a job on a contract basis by the Chautala government, but when the Congress came to power in Haryana in 2005,he lost the job leaving his family in distress.

Talking to The Indian Express,Jindal said looking at Rajpal’s age,he felt inclined to forgive him. “Anything is possible anywhere. This is only a shoe, somebody could shoot you also. Somebody could throw something at you, there could be a bomb blast. Let our party decide what’s to be done in this case. The law will take its own course in the matter,” said Jindal.
