With AICTE Chairman R A Yadav already on his way out after CBI raids,UGC Chairman Sukhdeo Thorat is said to be next on the HRD Ministrys chopping board. Both men enjoyed former HRD Minister Arjun Singhs patronage and are now in the firing line. With both the Prof Yashpal-led committee and National Knowledge Commission reports recommending that the UGC and AICTE be scrapped and Sibal openly supporting the same,officers at both bodies are a fearful lot. Having seen the entire top brass of the AICTE implicated in a series of CBI raids last week,UGC staffers are a bundle of nerves.
