YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy was Tuesday greeted by hundreds of supporters as he headed towards his residence, walking out of prison after getting bail.
The 10 km from Chanchalguda Jail to his residence at Jubilee Hills took almost five hours to cover as supporters cheered and followed his convoy. Security personnel accompanying Jagans vehicle had a tough time keeping the crowd at a safe distance from him.
A special CBI Court had granted bail to Jagan, who had been in jail for 16 months after being arrested in a disproportionate assets case on May 27 last year.
The busy evening traffic was thrown out of gear as his convoy moved towards his residence, where he was received by his family members around 9.30 pm. Since morning, party activists had gathered in large numbers, raising slogans and dancing to beats of drums. Many supporters came from Jagans Kadapa constituency and other Seemandhra districts, where YSR Congress has a strong presence. Thousands of supporters, chanting slogans and hailing their leader, had gathered outside the jail since morning awaiting Jagan to return. Jagan getting back on the scene is widely expected to lend added weight to the movement against bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
