SteelMin recommends Kothari as NMDC chief

The steel ministry had convinced the government to terminate the one-man panel of MS Rana.

The steel ministry has finally recommended Narendra Kothari,CEO of SAILs Burnpur plant for the post of NMDC chairman.

Objections by the ministry had held up appointment of a chief for the company for two years ever since its former chief Rana Som retired in December 2011.

The steel ministry had convinced the government to terminate the one-man panel of MS Rana SPMCL chairman who was selected by public enterprise selection board in May 2012 arguing that he did not have mining background.

At the behest of the ministry,the government appointed Planning Commission member Arun Maira to scout for the right candidate.
