Steel prices remain stable

Traders said steel prices may go up in the coming days after the budgetary proposals.

Quiet conditions continued to prevail in the local steel and iron market today as most of the steels traded in a narrow range on some deals and settled at previous levels.

Arrivals and offtake too remained at a low ebb and volume of business was poor.

Activity remained restricted as traders preferred to defer their buying or selling following increase in excise and service tax rates to 12 per cent each in Budget.

Traders said steel prices may go up in the coming days after the budgetary proposals.
