Diversified firm Siemens reported a decline of 28 per cent in net profit at Rs 236.4 crore for the quarter ended December 31,2009.
However,the total income rose to Rs 1,866.5 crore for the quarter ended December 31,from Rs 1,863 crore for the same quarter previous fiscal,Siemens said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
“Our solid operating performance in the first quarter was driven by an upturn in the domestic demand across all our business,” the company said.
For the first quarter ended December 31,2009,new orders for the company rose by 161 per cent to Rs 5,168 crore.
“Our order position increased largely due to our success in winning a large export order,” the company added. The company is engaged in manufacturing of turbines equipment,power and lighting material.
Shares of Siemens Ltd were trading at Rs 647 on the BSE,up 4.71 per cent from its previous close.
