The Bombay High court has granted bail to actor Shiney Ahuja,convicted of raping his domestic help by a trial court,on a bond of Rs 50,000. The actor,however,will have to take the courts permission to travel outside the country.
Granting bail to Ahuja,the HC said his custody was not required for now as he has already been convicted. Shiney was convicted on March 30.
Shineys lawyer,Shirish Gupte,argued that the actor was convicted even when there was no allegation of rape against him. The victim had told the trial court that there was no intercourse or rape and she had given a false statement to police.
