On the 2nd of May,1stdibs,a retail site for everything vintage, will unveil jewellery pieces from Italian designer Elsa Schiaparelli collection (all items were made between 1930 and 1950). Schiaparelli was not only Coco Chanel's competitor and contemporary but is considered one of the most influential European designers between the two World Wars. The selection on 1stdibs.com coincides with a museum show that connects her work to that of another iconic Italian designer,Miuccia Prada. Read the New York Times blog for all the details. I loved these two things: the telephone dial, which Schiaparelli designed with Salvador Dali around 1935 and the Rose Garden glasses. Both images are by Lucas Zarebinski, the well known, award winning still life photographer and have been used on the New York times blog you see here.
