On the eve of counting, the Congress has said that the employees and officers who have worked for the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government would be made to pay for transgressing their line of duty.
Congress general secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh Mohan Prakash said that party cadres across the state had been told to be on guard and retaliate if need be on seeing irregularities during the counting process. He alleged that the ruling party had indulged in manipulations even during the 2008 elections but the Congress was prepared to avoid its repeat this time.
The party submitted a memorandum to the chief electoral officer demanding that collectors of more than half the districts be kept out of counting centres on Sunday due to their suspicious style of functioning.
Claiming that more than 65,000 postal ballots had not been delivered a fortnight after November 25,the Congress said that it raises a doubt that the BJP will manipulate them to ensure victory in constituencies where the difference of votes between two candidates is marginal. Alleging that something similar happened in 2008,the party demanded that postal ballots that have not been cast should be treated as cancelled.
Those who looted the state can loot the peoples verdict too, said Prakash.
PCC chief Kantilal Bhuria claimed that the party would win 125 to 135 seats.
The BJP,on the other hand, said that Sunday will be a positive verdict on governance. We are assured of our victory, BJP chief Narendra Tomar said.
