Sajida, the wife of Javed Shaikh alias Pranesh Kumar Pillai who was killed along with Ishrat Jahan in an alleged fake encounter by Gujarat Police in 2004,now hopes to get her photographs and documents back from the investigators. The police had seized all our photographs and important documents such as passport, ration card during the course of their investigation. We had repeatedly asked them to return our photographs and documents, but were denied every time. Hopefully, they will return those now, said Sajida,a teacher and mother of three. The Special Investigation Team terming Javeds encounter fake was a ray of hope for her family after seven years. The police drama has been exposed. We hope to get justice now, she said. I come from an educated family. I am BA,D Ed and have been teaching for a long time. This case made our lives miserable, Sajida said. When asked about Ishrat,Sajida said,I never saw or interacted with Ishrat. We came to know from the police that she worked as Javeds secretary and used to handle his accounts. Sajida is in touch with Javeds father Gopinath Pillai. Javeds father has been fighting for justice. He read law books, interacted with lawyers, and also briefed me regularly about the case. His efforts have succeeded, Sajida said. Pillai lived in suburban Tingarenagar. In 1990,Pillais son Pranesh fell in love with Sajida and in order to marry her converted to Islam and became Javed Shaikh in 1991. They got married in 1994 and stayed at Kalas housing society on Alandi road.
