Closing in on the opportunity that has emerged in the past few days, the PMK moved a step ahead in renewing ties with the ruling DMK,with the party legislators, led by president G K Mani, calling on Chief Minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi on Tuesday. Though the broad outline of the proposed partnership is already made clear, the PMK has entrusted its founder,S Ramadoss,to make a final, formal announcement on the alliance based on the outcome of the meeting on Tuesday. We discussed matters related to the alliance, but not allotting a seat for the coming Rajya Sabha election, Mani told the media after the nearly one hour-long meeting with the DMK president. Mani and 17 other PMK MLAs,and Union Minister in UPA-I,R Velu, represented the party while deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin and Law Minister Durai Murugan were also present during the meeting. The PMK delegation will now brief Ramadoss, who will soon make the formal announcement.
