Parampara,the Annual Tradition

The Parampara series — the annual festival of dance and music — is back and the theme for this year’s edition is “Bharatha Bharathi”.

The Parampara series — the annual festival of dance and music — is back and the theme for this year’s edition is “Bharatha Bharathi”,a celebration of India’s plurality and cultural ethos. The three-day festival,which begins on September 7 at Kamani Auditorium,will witness performances by legends such as santoor exponent Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma,Kuchipudi dance exponents Raja and Radha Reddy,Manipuri dance exponent Poushali Chatterjee,Hindustani classical singer Pandit Channulal Mishra,tabla maestro from Varanasi — Pandit Ram Kumar Mishra,Bharatanatyam danseuse Padma Subrahmanyam and Carnatic vocalist TM Krishna.

The inaugural day will have performances by Raja and Radha Reddy,and Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma. “Our performance will be a salute to our incredible country where different religions and languages co-exist,” said Raja Reddy. On the following day,Poushali Chatterjee — along with her troupe from the North East — will bring out different features of Manipuri dance form in a performance. Started in 1997,the Parampara dance and music festival is organised by Natya Tarangini Raja Reddy Institute every year.
