Pak hands over Indian girl to BSF

After several rounds of flag meetings between India and Pakistan,a seven-year-old girl from Rajasthan who had strayed into Pakistani territory was returned to the Border Security Force officials

After several rounds of flag meetings between India and Pakistan,a seven-year-old girl from Rajasthan who had strayed into Pakistani territory was returned to the Border Security Force officials late on Monday evening.

The girl,Pooja Meghwal,was grazing cattle along with her brothers at the international border and had entered Pakistan through a damaged fence near 43KYD village in Bikaner on Friday.

The BSF forces held several rounds of flag meetings with the Pakistan Rangers seeking her custody.

After Pooja was handed over to the BSF,she was immediately taken to a local hospital in Bikaner for a medical check-up and the doctors confirmed that she was perfectly healthy.

Pooja recounted her stay and said that she was given a new dress,footwear,candies and was offered regular meals during her stay with the Pakistan Rangers.

She said that a woman officer was deputed to take care of her.

Sources said that initially Pakistan Rangers did not respond favourably and refused to give clear indications on whether they had retrieved the girl and if she was safe.
