The petroleum ministry on Wednesday ordered Reliance Industries RIL to relinquish 81 per cent of the exploration area in block KG-DWN-98/3. This entails foregoing five discoveries which RIL claims hold 895 bcf of natural gas.
The order,however,allows RIL to retain three satellite discoveries D39,D30 and D31 projected to hold 345 bcf of gas saying they were being considered as Discovery and Development Area as per data given to the government.
