Off-screen role lands actress in trouble

Darshan was arrested on Friday on charges of assaulting his wife.

Kannada Film Producers Association has banned actress Nikita Thukral for her alleged role in the marital dispute between Kannada star Darshan, with whom she is paired in a forthcoming movie, and his wife. Darshan was arrested on Friday on charges of assaulting his wife.

Nikita,a relative newcomer in Kannada film industry, was banned for three years after Darshan’s wife Vijayalakshmi,in a police complaint, accused her of being the cause for their marital dispute.

Nikita has denied the charge. “I don’t know why an innocent girl is being dragged into a domestic dispute between a husband and wife. If anybody can prove I have a relationship with Darshanji,I will leave Kannada film industry. They have not taken my view at all before banning me,’’ Thukral told a local TV channel. She,however, did not respond to the allegation that Darshan had bought her a house in Mumbai.
