NPCIL tries to reach out with Marathi booklets

In a bid to allay the fears of locals in Jaitapur and clear the myths and misconceptions about the countrys nuclear power programme,the Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) has produced booklets in Marathi for distribution in the region.

There have been a lot of misconceptions on the Jaitapur power plant. We need to educate the people in Jaitapur about the plant and clear their confusion and dispel several myths. We have already distributed the Marathi booklets near villages in Tarapur,and we intend to distribute it to locals in Jaitapur soon, said Ranjit Kakde,general manager (corporate communications),NPCIL. We need to disseminate scientific information and correct data to clear doubts that currently exist regarding nuclear power, he added.

From information on the 20 operating plants in India and the seismic zones in which they are located,to Indias need for nuclear power generation to address the massive electricity demand,the 15-page book highlights various issues in detail.
