Now,Sena seeks ban on burqa

Sena has sought a ban on burqa, saying the veil worn by Muslim women is being misused for stealing babies.

The Shiv Sena has sought a ban on the burqa, saying the veil worn by Muslim women is being misused for stealing babies. The party was referring to last week’s incident of a two-year-old baby being allegedly stolen by a veiled woman after duping the child’s grandmother at a civic hospital in Mumbai, where the boy and his twin sister had been taken to be administered a vaccine.

“The burqa is an identity for Muslim women. Actually,it is a form of fundamentalism and harassment, but if these burqas are being used for stealing children, then we are today demanding a legal ban on burqas,” said an editorial in Sena mouthpiece Saamna on Tuesday.

The editorial comment also praised French President Nicolas Sarkozy for calling a ban on the veil in France. The Sena hailed Sarkozy saying it was a “revolutionary step” and also referred to ban on burqas in several other countries.
