The Steel Ministry today said it is examining representations on alleged irregularities in the awarding of tenders by state-run National Mineral Development Corporation NMDC in consultation with Central Vigilance Commission.
8220;Some representations regarding alleged irregularities in award of tenders by NMDC for installation of thin slab caster for rolling mill and hot strip mill for the integrated steel plant at Nagarnar were received. Preliminary examination has revealed that no irregularities were committed,8221; Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma said a reply to the Lok Sabha.
8220;These representations are under further examination in consultation with Chief Vigilance Officer CVO,NMDC and Central Vigilance Commission CVC,8221; he added.
NMDC is setting up a three million tonne per annum mtpa steel plant at Nagarnar in Chhattisgarh with Rs 15,000 crore investment.
Verma said,however,that for ensuring transparency in award of tenders,NMDC has introduced an integrity pact,which is to be signed by the company and the bidders for procurement cases of Rs 10 crore each and above and all works whose estimates are more than Rs 20 crore.
8220;Works whose estimates are more than Rs 10 lakh are awarded through open tender basis by NMDC with wide publicity in leading news papers,company8217;s websites and Central procurement portal,8221; he added.
