Two alleged members of terror outfit India Mujahideen,Syed Maqbool and Imran Khan, were on Thursday remanded to the custody of the National Investigative Agency for five days as part of the probe into the larger conspiracy behind the Hyderabad twin blasts.
The order was given by the Special NIA Court of district judge I S Mehta. The two were in judicial custody in Tihar Jail for their alleged role in 2012 Pune blasts since their arrest in October 2012.
The NIA has reportedly told the court that the two operatives visited Hyderabad in July 2012 for a recce of Dilsukhnagar area allegedly on the instructions of IM founder Riyaz Bhatkal. Sources said the two will now be taken to Hyderabad for interrogation on the blasts.
NIA prosecutor Ahmad Khan told the court that the two were required for probe larger conspiracy of the IM and that the FIR in the case was filed prior to the February 21 blasts.
The advocate for Imran and Maqbool,Mohammad Pracha, opposed custody to the NIA stating that they had already been interrogated on this by the Delhi Police special cell, which filed a chargesheet against them in early February. The custody now amounts to double jeopardy since they are being interrogated for the same offence again by a different agency, argued Pracha.
