Mother Teresa Award for Anuradha

Anuradha Paudwal,the veteran playback singer,was honoured with the Mother Teresa Award 2011 for Lifetime Achievement.

Anuradha Paudwal,the veteran playback singer,was honoured with the Mother Teresa Award 2011 for Lifetime Achievement. She received the honour on April 3 in Kolkata at the hands of the Governor of West Bengal.

Anuradha Paudwal began singing at an early age and first recorded a shlok for the 1973 film Abhimaan,making her debut as playback singer with the 1976 Kalicharan song Ek batta do and recording her first solo the same year in Aap Beati. Her major breakthrough happened with Hero (1983) and she has recorded hundreds of songs in multiple languages. From the 90s,she sang mainly for T-Series and sang several non-film hits in various genres,especially devotional songs.

Past winners of the Mother Teresa Award include Manna Dey,Rajesh Khanna,Hema Malini,Dr Bhupen Hazarika and Anup Jalota.
