A day after apprehending that the Congress may field Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar or Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde as Prime Minister to split Dalit votes in Uttar Pradesh slated for elections early next year,Chief Minister Mayawati on Saturday said the UPA government at the Centre may not complete its tenure,forcing mid-term elections soon.
The widespread unrest among the common man indicates that the UPA government might not be able to complete its tenure and the country may face mid-term elections, the BSP chief was learnt to have told the party workers during a meeting of national executive and senior office-bearers in the capital on Saturday.
A BSP press communique said Mayawati also exhorted party functionaries to prepare the party for any such eventuality.
At the meeting,Mayawati is learnt to have again trained guns on the Congress,saying the party was leading the pack among Opposition parties in the state to weaken the BSP movement.
With a clutch of other states also going to the polls next year,Mayawati also asked the party leaders of respective state units to prepare for the polls in those states.
